Tips • 18th Dec, 17 • 0 Comments
Christmas festivities are just around the corner, and sadly you can’t rely on Father Christmas to handle your Christmas postage, so don’t miss out on posting your cards and gifts in time for the big day. Stay on top of your mailing to-do list with Royal Mail; here are their handy recommended deadlines to send everything by during the festive season.
When to send Second-Class mail in time for Christmas
For any second-class deliveries within the UK, make sure that you post your items by Wednesday 20th December. Remember to use bags and separate by service if you are sending multiple parcels, whereas if you are sending less, separate your mail by class and size and Royal Mail’s customer collection driver will take care of the rest. For more information, you can refer to our recent blogs on how to prepare your franked mail and how to get your franked mail ready for posting.
When to send First-Class mail in time for Christmas
Same as above if you would like to send your Christmas mail first-class within the UK, but this will buy you an extra day so just be sure to post by Thursday 21st December.
Royal Mail Special Delivery guidelines for UK Christmas deliveries
To use Royal Mail Special Delivery in time for Christmas, post your items by Thursday 21st December and for Royal Mail Special Delivery Saturday Guaranteed, you only need to send your mail by Friday 22nd December. Don’t forget to keep your franked Special Delivery mail separate – not placed in a bag or tray – and hand it to your Royal Mail customer collection driver.
If you do miss out on these recommended dates, it will be touch and go on whether your deliveries will arrive in time for Christmas, so stay on the safe side and give yourself the best chance by sending your festive mail on time with Royal Mail’s guidelines.
